Fun City

What summer family vacation is complete without a trip to the amusement park?  Right around the corner from our house in Estes Park is Fun City -- complete with bumper cars, miniature golf, giant slides, and go karts.  The kids had a blast going from one activity to the other.  Unfortunately, Fun City does not have an all day pass -- it's pay individually per ride.  Let's just say the parent's pocketbook is a little lighter and that Fun City is close to being listed as a Fortune 500 company.

With our final three dollars, I challenged Turner and Sarah to a race down the giant slide.  The important part to note is that I won.  Here's the replay:

The kids had a blast and we had a lot of fun watching them.  The next time we go we'll have to take out a small loan or else win the lottery.

Rocky Mountain Holiday

The Rocky Mountains are one of our favorite places -- what a great place to visit in the summer to escape the heat and humidity.   Admittedly, we haven't seen all of the Rockies in all of the States (and Canada!), but our favorite place to visit is Estes Park, Colorado.  A great mountain town that is the Eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.  We have visited multiple times, but this is the first for Mona's family--three generation staying in a rented cabin along the Big Thompson River for a week.  Eight of us aged 7 to 75.

As I type, I'm listening to the soothing currents of the river and all the sounds of nature.  We had a fun-filled day gathering in Denver after arriving on different flights and making the drive to Estes with stops along the way in Boulder and Lyons.  This is a picture of the Flat Irons in Boulder from Chautauqua Park.  Looking forward to a great week!
